Coal County Sheriff’s Report
Warrant issued for convicted sex offender
A warrant was issued December 17 for the arrest of convicted sex offender Richard Paul Jarrett, 60, Coalgate, for failure to notify the Oklahoma Department of Corrections of his current address.
Deputy Nicholas Davis’ probable cause affidavit states that ODOC notified Jarrett in October of his responsibility to verify his address, but he has not responded to the letter.
ODOC records show that Jarrett was convicted in Wise County, TX, in 1982 for abuse or neglect of child/child beating (if offense involved sexual abuse or exploitation).
Drug arrests
Three drug cases were filed over the past week against drivers caught with illegal drugs in their possession.
Dayton Thomas Tisdell, 20, Stonewall, was arrested the night of December 6 on SH 48 for misdemeanor possession of misdemeanor methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia after Deputy Austin Golden stopped his vehicle for a defective headlamp.
Billy Joe Roebuck, 42, Tupelo, was arrested December 7 for misdemeanor possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Deputy Golden pulled Roebuck’s vehicle over on SH 3 after he detected the vehicle crossing the white fog line.
Patricia Elizabeth Burks, 31, Gore, OK, was arrested December 14, after Golden ran a check on an Oklahoma license plate in the back glass of the vehicle and learned that the tag did not belong to the vehicle.
Burks was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Records show that Pittsburg County issued a warrant for her arrest in August in connection with a 2017 case involving illegal drugs and concealing stolen property.
All three defendants have pleaded not guilty to the charges. Their cases are set on the January 18 docket.
