Anita Jones Matthews

Funeral services for Anita Jones Matthews, a Coalgate resident, were held Friday, June 9, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Coalgate Church of Christ with Gary Guinn officiating. Interment was in Nixon Cemetery with Brown’s Funeral Service of Coalgate in charge of arrangements.

Ms. Matthews was born June 13, 1946 to Dirol and Henrietta (Lacy) Rogers at Coalgate and passed away June 6, 2023 at Denison, TX at the age of 76 years, 11 months and 24 days. She attended Coalgate High School and owned a ceramic shop and restaurants with her mother. Anita was a member of the Coalgate Church of Christ and enjoyed crafts and ceramics.

Survivors include a son Mike Jones and Tal Palmer of Coalgate; granddaughter, Lillie Grace Jones of Van Buren, AR; cousins, Marsha Bogdon of California and Janice Reitz of Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dirol and Henrietta (Lacy) Rogers; brother, John Roy Richards; and sister, Hester Lee Hester.
