Two Tupelo Elementary teachers have been notified that they have been selected to receive the Carolyn Watson Grant for the 2024-2025 school year. Mrs. Emily Brown and Mrs. Jill Brown will receive up to $5,000 each for classroom enhancements to provide more unique and thorough education to their students. On behalf of Tupelo Public Schools, we are extremely proud of these ladies for always pursuing the best for their students. We are genuinely humbled and appreciative of the generous grants to our school via the Carolyn Watson Foundation. The longtime chair and CEO of Shamrock Bancshares wanted to improve the quality of life for the residents living in the rural southern Oklahoma communities where her banks are located.

The Coal County Search and Rescue Task Force Water Rescue Team proudly represented Coal County with the Oklahoma Disaster Task Force 1 and 2 during the recent response efforts for Hurricane Milton. This dedicated team, renowned for their swift and effective rescue operations, collaborated with various agencies— including Mayes, Guymon, and Pittsburg County, the Grand River Dam Authority, and Lawton Fire Department, to provide critical assistance to communities affected by the hurricane.
