Read moreWBMS TEACHER, MRS. BECKY WARD, HAS BEEN BUSY PREPARING HER STUDENTS FOR THE PATRIOT’S PEN CONTEST. The contest is a VFW sponsored essay contest open to all 6 th , 7 th , and 8 th grade students across the U.S. More than 138,000 students entered this contest last year. First prize is $5000. The theme for this year is “How Can I Be a Good American.” During the discussion of the essay, it was talked about supporting our military especially if stationed overseas. A student in the class, Morgan Davis, mentioned her cousin, Seth Foreman, was stationed overseas. The class decided to do more than write an essay, they would send Seth a care package. The class has learned that it takes Seth 21 days to receive his mail. Mrs. Ward was very proud of the initiative of her students.
