Austin’s buck, which was taken during riffle season, scored an impressive 156 Boone and Crockett score and won Austin a 308 Mossberg rifle topped with a Vortex scope ($1,000 value). Scoring was done by Atoka Game Warden Jay Harvey. The contest was hosted by Mixon Wild Game Processing; the Mossberg rifle and scope sponsored by Daniel Richie, D&S Dirt Work and Small Equipment, Atoka. Read moreA 29-year-old Tupelo man who last week took a car on what he called a joyride ended up in the Coal County jail. Chief Destin Wilkerson said he responded to a residence on Pine Street the afternoon of January 26 concerning a vehicle theft. Upon arrival at the residence, a woman reported that Dannie Gene Kelsey had driven away in a black Ford Fusion and was headed toward SH 48. Two women were at the residence.
